Itahari, Dec 15: Minister for
Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal on Monday said elements
carrying out insensate activities to obstruct a constitution against people's
aspiration with attempts to intimidate the two-thirds majority of Nepali people
with the backing of minority votes would be punished.
Addressing a programme organized by
Nepal Press Union Sunsari Chapter here, Minsiter Rijal said efforts would be
channeled for delivering the new constitution through consensus as far as
applicable while asserting that the constitution could be delivered by the
two-thirds majority as an alternative.
The constitution will be delivered
on stipulated date through voting on the issues which could not be subject to
agreement, the Minister said urging all to have belief in the government's
determination.
On a different note, the Minister
underlined the increasing support from India, China and the US resulting in
flow of huge resources and the trust from several foreign countries following
the establishment of peace.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
has pledged a billion rupees in concessional loan while China made commitment
to provide Rs 13 billion and America 10-60 billion for the infrastructure
development, the Minister further informed.
The Minister also expressed his
belief that the country would embark on path of economic progress in leaps and
bounds citing the pledges from the private sector in hydro power development.
On the occasion, Minister Rijal
conferred the Chabilal Balmaya Smriti Journalism Award to NPU Sunsari Chapter
founding member Giriraj Acharya with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Likewise, other founding members of
the Chapter and entrepreneurs were also honoured.
The Minister also laid the
foundation stone for the construction of Durga Kali Temple at Chakragatti
Bazaar of Mahendranagar on the same day.
