Kathmandu, Nov 22: The Investment
Board is to give the responsibility of preparing the detailed project report
(DPR) of the long-term management of the solid waste in the Kathmandu Valley to
two international companies.
A meeting of the Board on Friday gave
the responsibility to M Communication OY in association Poyry, Biotse and The
Organic Village, LM BVG (India), and the Greenfield Waste Management Company
and KRYSS International J/V for preparing the concrete basis for waste
management.
The Board plans to take ahead the
process in this connection in three packages. Accordingly, the package one
includes the collection of waste in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and 13
adjoining Village Development Committees (VDCs) while the package two comprises
collection of waste in Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City and nine adjoining VDCs.
The package three includes collecftion of solid waste from Bhaktapur and
Madhyapur municipalities.
The Indian and Italian companies
have shown interest in preparing the DPR. Both these companies have completed
the field verification some time back and have submitted a report on this to
