Kathmandu,
Dec 21: At the invitation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur
Pandey, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is arriving here on December 25 for a
three-day goodwill visit.
Informing
RSS about his Chinese counterpart's goodwill visit, Foreign Minister Pandey
said bilateral talks would be held with the Chinese delegation led by Wang on
December 26 on which occasion views would be exchanged on matters of mutual
interest and concern.
"The
talks would also focus on the prospects of Nepal's reaping maximum benefits
from the economic progress achieved by China as a country with a large economy
and also on enhancing mutual cooperation," he said.
Stating
all aspects of the multi-dimensional Nepal-China relations would be discussed
in the talks but no bilateral agreements would be signed, Minister for Foreign
Affairs Pandey believed that the Chinese Foreign Minister's visit would be
fruitful in taking the bilateral relations to a new height.
While
in Nepal, the Chinese Foreign Minister will separately call on President Dr Ram
Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and the leaders of the major
political parties.
Mr
Wang's would be the first visit from China at the ministerial level since the
formation of the present government under Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. Last
year, former Foreign Minister and China State Council counselor Yang Jeichi had
visited Nepal.
Chinese
President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Kequiang, holding a news conference
immediately after taking up the leadership role, had made public statement that
China stood to benefit from with the guarantee of political stability and
economic prosperity in the neighbouring countries. On the occasion, they also
made it clear that China has attached high priority to the neighbouring
countries in its foreign policy.
Foreign
Minister Wang's this visit is seen with interest and enthusiasm in both
countries, and it is also expected to pave the way for the Chinese President's
proposed visit to Nepal at the start of the coming year. RSS
