Kathmandu, Dec
26: In a bid to promote Nepali literature at the international level, the
Global Federation for Nepali Literature has opened its branch in Yangon, the
capital of Myanmar.
A gathering of
Nepalese literati in Yangon set up its branch chaired by Laxman Neupane.
The committee
also comprises Nepali ambassador to Myanmar, Parash Ghimire and his spouse
Prabina Ghimire as the patron.
Similarly, Thakur
Prasad Guragain, Mahananda Bhattarai and Tek Narayan Rimal are also the patron
to the branch.
The Nepalese in
Burma have been playing an instrumental role in keeping the Nepali language,
literature and culture alive for many years.
The Yangon branch
is the 23rd branch of Global Federation of Nepali Literature set up in the 17th
country, informed Biswadeep Tigela the Central Chairperson of the Federation.
