Kathmandu,
Nov 14: A study conducted jointly by the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) Nepal and
Integrated Development Society (IDS) Nepal has shown that for climate change
adaptation stress should be given to ensuring human protection and on energy
that produce low carbon among others.
The
study conducted with the support of Ministry of Science, Technology and
Environment and Nepal based Country Office of the Asian Development Bank on
Friday suggested to give priority to form a network of social aid by ensuring
the humanitarian protection, excess in food and water, and energy that produce
low carbon to make the human living and habitats suitable.
Speaking at a
programme organized to release the conclusions of the study here Friday,
Executive Director of the ISET Ajay Dixit said the traditional knowledge,
skill, and practices could play significant role to adapt the climate change
effects while stressing on the need of the right utility of them.
The study conducted in total 18
districts representing mountain, hills and terai region could help minimize the
climate change effects, bring changes in public life, and make short and long
term policies for the resilience to climate change effect, he said.
Similarly,
Dr Krishna Chandra Paudel, Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technology and
Environment said the study conducted on the traditional knowledge and practices
could be the guidelines to control the climate change effects.
Prabha
Pokhrel, member of the research team said the study would direct the new
knowledge for the resilience of the climate change effects and ensure the
voices of the different communities.
As
many as 89 representatives of 54 organizations working for controlling climate
change effects participated at the programme. RSS
