Rupandehi, Nov 24: The tourist police
have been deployed in Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha.
The District Police Office, Rupandehi,
has deployed 10 police personnel designated as the tourist police at the main
Lumbini with a view to ensuring the religious tourists' security and
convenience. With this, it is believed that the criminal activities here would
be controlled, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Dhakal.
The Lumbini Development Trust (LDT)
has provided the rooms for the Office and for residence of the tourist police,
said LDT Secretary Ajitman Tamang.
Chief of the District Police Office
Dhakal and Vice-chairman of the LDT Acharya Karma Syangbo Sherpa jointly
inaugurated the office amid a programme here today.
According to a LTD report, around
800,000 tourists including from third countries and India visit Lumbini every
