Khotang, Dec 16: Best farmers in the
district have been honoured here amidst a function organized on the occasion of
the sixth Peasants' Day and the concluding session of a massive commercial
competitive agriculture fair.
The honoured farmers were, Ram Kumar
Rai from Diktel-5, Devraj Rijal from Nerpa-6 and Kumar Shrestha from
Lamidanda-5 in the district.
They were provided each with Rs
5,000 and felicitations letter, for their contribution to the development of
agriculture. Rai was honoured for vegetable farming while Shrestha for orange
farming and Rijal for nursery, informed Shyam Prasad Rijal, senior agriculture
development officer.
Similarly, special honour was
bestowed on Parkhan Bahadur Rai, who is known as the 'father of cardamom' in
the district. He hails from Banjhechyandanda-9.
The best farmers were also given
away the prizes from from Chief District Officer Govinda Sapkota and Local
Development Officer, Mahendra Sapkota.
Similarly, 47 other farmers standing
in the first, second and third positions in the competitive fair were awarded
on the occasion.
The competitive fair was organized
in a bid to further encourage farmers on agriculture and boost local economy
and ensure quality health with local products. RSS
