Kanchanpur, Dec 16: The National
Haliya Liberation Society Kanchanpur has provided computers to the children of
freed haliya (bonded labours) in the
district.
Local schools as Siddhanath
Secondary of Brahmadev, Navadurga Lower Secondary of Suda and Tribhuvan Higher
Secondary of Tilachaur have been provided seven computers each for the haliya's
children reading there.
After the free computer education in
the school, Birendra Sarki, said he was very happy to have the computer
education freely in his school. Earlier, they had to go to Mahendranagar or the
Indian market of Tanakpur for this.
"Learning computer skills needs
high cost outside, but the computer skills provided free of cost at schools
will help us become skilled for employment," he expressed jubilation.
Meanwhile, school teacher Hira Singh
Aidi said 70 percent of freed haliya's children study at Siddha Secondary
School. They are taught computer in group turn by turn. Both theory and
practical classes are provided, he added.
Another teacher Ramesh Khadka said
the children with free computer education have begun attending school
regularly. It has helped reduce dropout, he added.
National Haliya Liberation Society
Chairman CB Luhar said the free computer education to the children of freed
haliya would whet their technical knowledge needed for this competitive age.
