22: The children in rural Musahar settlements in the district are still deprived
of education.
The teachers at local
schools said the Musahar families generally do not send their children to
school. The Dalit households from Sedhawa, Mahadevpatti, Paterbasugauli,
Gaharnathpur, Bijbaniya VDC still have illiterate children.
Ramdev Prasad Tharu, a
teacher at a local Saraswati Lower Secondary School, informed that most of the
Musahar people have not sent their children to school. He commented, "Though they know how
important the education is, they don't drive their children to go to school."
On the other hand, a
Musahar man, Shivnath Majhi Musahar, said it giving skills was more important
than education to the children.
The District
Education Office has the record that 44 percent children in the district still
do not have access to education.
Education Officer
Barakhu Rajak however said a school admission campaign was launched targeting
the Dalit people. The Dalit children were provided education free of cost in
all level of school, he added. RSS
