Kathmandu, Dec 8: US Ambassador to Nepal
Peter W Bodde called on Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the Prime Minister's
residence, Baluwatar, on Monday morning.
The meeting dwelt on cordial diplomatic
ties between Nepal and US, constitution-making, potential international
investment flow to Nepal and mutual interests.
During the meet, PM Koirala handed over
an official invitation letter to US President Barak Obama for Nepal visit
through ambassador Bodde.
The Prime Minister noted that as Nepal
is in a crucial and decisive stage of constitution making inclusion of Nepal to
the list of South Asian countries that US President Obama is visiting on coming
January would extend moral support to all the democratic forces of Nepal.
On the occasion, Ambassador Bodde
expressed the confidence that Nepal would get constitution under the leadership
of Koirala. He further said the remarks of some political parties' leaders have
harboured doubt among the people.
The US envoy also lauded incumbent
government placing emphasis on constitution making and imparting good message
to investors by recently signing power Trade Agreement with India and Project
Development Agreements of Arun-III and Upper Karnali Projects.
He noted that these developments would
give new life to Nepal's sustainable development efforts. The US Ambassador
also suggested the government to pay equal attention towards securing existing
and new investments flown to Nepal.
Bodde further said that the national
pride projects would see effective implementation if a separate commission was
in place to look after these projects.
On the occasion, PM Koirala thanked the
United States for its physical and financial support to Nepal's socio-economic
development and continued moral support for enabling Nepal's democracy.
During the dialogue, PM Koirala pledged
to secure foreign investment in Nepal. Also present at the meeting was PM
Koirala's foreign affairs advisor Dr Dinesh Bhatatrai. RSS
