Dhangadhi, Dec
27: The situation of human rights in four districts of far-western development
region is disappointing, according to the National Human Rights Commission
(NHRC).
A press
release issued after the monitoring of human rights situation in Kailali, Doti,
Achham and Dadeldhura districts by a team led by NHRC Commissioner Govinda
Poudel, stated that the situation of human rights in these districts was not
satisfactory.
Mohan Dev
Joshi, Officiating Chief at Regional Office, Dhangadhi, said that during the
monitoring, they found that the prisoners were kept in a miserable condition
for lack of spacious rooms in district jails excluding Achham. Even the food
and medicine were not provided on time to them.
Similarly, the
district hospitals lack medicines- the medicines to be provided freely by the
government. The lack of doctors and health workers as per quotas and other
medical appliances has badly hampered the health service, he added. RSS
