NTC Brings Optic Fiber to the Home

What is Fiber to the Home ?

In order to meet the customer need for higher bandwidth, reliable, quality service & secure network, Nepal Telecom has come up with Fiber To The Home (FTTH) based on Next Generation Network Technology. In this service, Optical fiber is installed up to the customer premises instead of traditional copper network. Customers can get high speed broadband internet service ranging from 1Mbps to 100 Mbps as well as IP based voice service currently and multimedia service will be available in near future.

Basic Features:

  1. Ultimate access technology that supports service requirement of next decade and beyond.
  2. Both Broadband Internet Service and Voice service in a single fiber.
  3. Ready for triple play service (will be introduced in near future)

How to Subscribe:

  1. Customer needs to fill the service registration form for FTTH in service counter. (Available at: http://www.ntc.net.np/downloads)
  2. Site survey and estimation will be carried out by NT. Site survey includes site assessment (outdoor & indoor), equipment termination point, route of fiber drop cable.
  3. Service will be provided based on the distribution point feasibility and Service availability.
  4. Fiber installation, CPE installation and configuration will be carried out by NT
  5. Username and Password for login will be provided to the customers.

Q. What is Fiber To The Home (FTTH)?
A. Fiber to the home (FTTH) is a method of providing high bandwidth to consumers and businesses, and thereby enabling more enjoyable video, internet and voice services over optical fiber.

Q. Why should I subscribe FTTH?
A. FTTH is the ultimate access service that can deliver leading edge voice and high speed broadband internet service and multimedia service in a single fiber near future. 

Q. What is the difference between ADSL and FTTH service?
A. Major Difference between ADSL and FTTH service is that ADSL uses copper wire to carry internet service to home whereas FTTH uses fiber. Fiber based internet technology is number of times faster than traditional ADSL. 

Q. What are the services provided in FTTH?
A. FTTH can provide triple play services video, internet and voice service. Currently, through FTTH, we are providing high speed broadband internet ranging from 1Mbps to 100 Mbps and voice service through single fiber. Other value added services will be added in near future. 

Q. What is CPE? How can I get it?
A. CPE stands for Customer Premises Equipment. It resides at customer premises for terminating incoming optical fiber from Fiber distribution Point. It consists of four RJ-45 Ethernet interface for high speed internet and two RJ-11 telephone interfaces for voice communication. CPE will be available during installation from Nepal Telecom.
