Kathmandu, Nov 30: The Society of Modern Artists (SOMA) is going to
organize a contemporary painting exhibition named Kalapunja-IV on the occasion
of the 90th birthday of the father of Modern Nepali Art, Lain Singh Bangdel.
The SOMA is the organization of Bangdel's disciples.
As many as 100 paintings including that of Bangdel would be put on
display at Nepal Art Council.
SOMA Secretary Shanta Kumar Rai informed that the paintings would be
created by the artists Shankarraj Singh Suwal, Shankar Nath Rimal, Govinda Lal
Singh Dongol, Karna Maskey, Chini Kaji Tamrakar, Hem Poudel, Hira Lal Danglol,
Shyam Lal Shrestha, Kanti Neupane, Hari Bahadur Khadka, Naresh Sainju, Jivan
Rajopadhyay, Shanta Kumar Rai, Tarjan Sangpang and Ratnakaji Shakya.
Even the senior painters would be honoured on the occasion.
The exhibition would continue for 10 days in the Council, and would be
taken to Pokhara next month.
Moreover, with the initiative of the Prabhat, a three monthly literary
magazine, the migrant Nepalis are marking the Bangdel birth anniversary on
Poush 6 in Kolkata, India, where Bangdel had studied paintings. RSS
