Kathmandu, Nov 16: The Central
Monitoring and Evaluation Committee has issued directives to all the bodies
concerned for working in a coordinated way for making the upcoming 18th
SAARC Summit successful.
The 34th meeting of the
Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal that convened at the
Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, today,
issued this directive, according to Shanta Raj Subedi, a Secretary at the PMO.
In the meeting, the Chief Secretary
drew the attention of the Ministries concerned and the bodies under them to
identify the alternative routes required for managing the cavalcade of the
VVIPs attending the SAARC Summit and to carry out their repair and maintenance
works as well as special cleaning.
Similarly, the meeting decided to
form a committee under the convenorship
of the Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare to hold
talks at the earliest possible regarding addressing the demands raised by the
senior citizens. The Joint Secretaries at the Ministries of Finance, Federal
Affairs and Local Development, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Health
and Population are the members on the committee.
The meeting also directed the
Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment to make arrangements for
providing uninterrupted information on weather, keeping the Hydrology and
Weather Centre running for 24 hours and to prepare and implement the long-term
and immediate action plan for making the weather forecasting more reliable and
