Rolpa, Nov 12: Chairman of the
Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal who arrived here Monday on a four-day
visit has intensified meetings with the party cadres and locals.
Rolpa is the district from where the
then CPN (Maoist) had started its People's War against the state on 13 February
1994 under Dahal's leadership. This district was considered the bastion of the
Maoist insurgency.
In course of his visit the UCPN
(Maoist) chairman is visiting various places and villages associated with the
People's War and where he once stayed underground commanding the war.
Dahal started his Rolpa visit from
Holeri, the place where the then CPN (Maoist) had declared a war against the
state. He met with the locals in Holeri on Tuesday and immediately visited Nuwagaon
and Tila at Gairigaon, interacting with the locals. The UCPN (Maoist) chairman
and former Prime Minister also visited Ghartigaon Losebang where the party had
established its headquarters during the insurgency.
While talking to the locals of different
villages, Dahal said that he has never forgotten the Rolpa people and the place
and assured that he would not let the sacrifice of the people to be squandered.
Stating that he has come to Rolpa to
listen to the people, he said he would not allow the dreams of the people
injured during the People's War and the families of the martyrs to be wasted.
On Tuesday, Dahal visited Dandagaon of
Rashi and went to the house where he had sheltered during the People's War and
the bunkers.
He spent the night at the house of
Nanda Kishor Pun 'Pasang', the then commander of the erstwhile People's
Liberation Army, at Dandagaon. He is scheduled to address a formal programme
being held at Rashi today.
After today's formal programme,
party chairman Dahal's itinerary will spend the night today at Jankot
Madichaur, the village of leader Barshaman Pun, and proceed towards Libang, the
district headquarters, tomorrow. RSS
