Kathmandu, Nov 13: Chairman of the
Constitutional Political and Consensus Committee, Dr Baburam Bhattarai, has
continued discussions in a bid to forge consensus on the disputed issues of the
constitution writing in view of the postponements of the CPDCC meeting.
On Thursday, Chairman Dr Bhattarai held
telephone talks with Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sushil
Koirala, Chairman of the CPN (UML) KP Oli, and Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist)
Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
During the conversations, Dr Bhattarai
reqeusted the leaders to come to a common point on the disputed issues
considering the fast approaching deadline to promulgate the new constitution.
As per the talks, the CPDCC will meet on
Friday.
Before holding the CPDCC meeting, the NC and UCPN-Maoist would hold a meeting
at PM's residence Baluwatar while the UCPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML at meeting
hall of state affairs committee.
The CPDCC meeting was cancelled on Wednesday for Chairman Dr
Bhattarai's sickness.
Chairman Dr Bhattarai also held a talk with Chairman of Madhesi
Janadhikar Forum, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar on today itself. They stressed on
making last ditch efforts to bring constitution on time based on the past
agreements.
In response to a question which topic dominated their talk, Dr
Bhattarai said, "Protection of the achievements of people's movement and
Madhesh movement and adherence to past agreements could be based for bringing
the new constitution."
The CPDCC meetings have so far failed to forge consensus as the
political parties have not budged from their stands on numbering and naming of
the provinces.
Lately, the ruling NC and the UML grew concerned over UCPN-Maoist's
Chairman Dahal's visit to Rolpa at a time the CPDCC was engrossed on
constitution's contents, while the UCPN-Maoist wondered why the ruling parties
presented the proposals on disputed issues of the constitution to the
international community. RSS
