Kathmandu, Nov 14: Speakers
at a programme stressed the need to protect the rights of all communities of
indigenous, women, Madhesi, Dalit, Muslims and the oppressed in the new
constitution.
They also suggested the
lawmakers to forge consensus on state restructuring, form of governance, and
electoral system by incorporating the issues of all parties.
At a press meet organized by
the agreement implementation struggle committee in the capital city on Friday,
Chairman of Janatantrik Party Krantikari, Ranbir Singh, said the basis of state
restructuring could be history, geography, culture and language.
A positive pressure on the
lawmakers was essential to bring the new constitution on time by protecting the
achievements of the political movements, he added.
Similarly, Chairman of Kirant
Janabadi Workers' Party, Sanken said a fully proportional system of
representation based on population was the need of the country.
He demanded the government to
implement the agreements it reached with various armed groups of Tarai region.
