Kathmandu,
Nov 13: The Tourism Department has initiated a process for the pre-caution to
be taken to control the accidents in the Himalayan treks.
The
Department has brought an eight-point draft of rules which the trekking
organizations, mountaineers and trekkers would abide by so that they could
control the loss of lives and property during the mountaineering and
adventurous trekking.
The
Department prepared the draft after a large number of mountaineers including
foreigners lost their life at Mt. Everest base-camp, Annapurna trekking route
and various high altitudes of the country this year.
It
was concluded that such accidents were rife this year as the trekking rules
were not implemented effectively. It was admitted by the tourism entrepreneurs

Time
has come for the trekking agencies, trekkers, mountaineers, porters and other
concerned people and organizations to abide by the rules.
The
Department has drawn attention of the concerned people, organizations and
trekking agencies regarding such incidents, told Tulasi Prasad Gautam, Director
General of the Department. He said the Department would hold necessary
consultations with the bodies concerned to implement the eight-point draft, he
added.
The
new concept brought by the Department includes implemention of the tourism
