Lahan, Nov 29: The maternal mortality rate
(MMR) has sharply decreased in Siraha district, thanks to effective
implementation of the government programmes.
The district public health office said that no
maternal mortality case was reported in the fiscal year 2070/071 in the
district. However, a total of six infants died in the fiscal year 2070/071.
Chief of the hospital, Dr Daya Shankarlal
Karna, said that the achievement was obtained due to regular pregnancy
check-ups and the practice of giving birth to the babies in the health care
centres.
Two women and ten infants had died in the
previous fiscal year in the district.
The number of women visiting the health care
centres for giving birth has increased due to government allowance to the new
moms and warm clothes to the babies.
Karna shared that 10,256 women visited the
health care centres in the district to give birth to the babies in the last
fiscal year. RSS
