Kathmandu, Nov 16:
Professor Dr Chudamani Bandhu has been conferred on the 'Riya Literary Writer
Award' amidst a programme organized by the Reliance International Academy and
the Riya Literary Society at Kapan, Kathmandu, on Saturday.
The programme was organized
on the occasion of the birthday of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota.
The award carries the
purse of Rs 20,000 along with a felicitation letter.
The award set up by
the Society in 2069 BS was provided to Dr Shailendu Prakash Nepal and Professor
Dr Kumar Bahadur Joshi in the previous years.
At the programme,
Bijay Chalise, Mitra Lal Pangyani, RM Dangol, Suman Dahal, Gopal Nepal, Keshav
Raj Pathak, Damodar Neupane and others recited their poems.
On the occasion,
students with best performance in a debate programme were given prizes. Atul
Poudel from Nepal Ved Vidyashram became first in the debate while Roshani BK
from Bashumdhara National Academy stood second and Shampada Shrestha from HEMS
school the third. Students from different 30 schools from the Kathmandu Valley
had participated in the debate.

Bandhu spoke on the personality of Mahakavi Dekota and his contribution to
Nepali literature.
Similarly, former
Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bairagi Kainla, said such programme would not only
make the students aware on literary giant Devkota but also orient them towards
literary activities.
Teacher at the
Reliance Academy, Damodar Niraula, said the programme was organized to
commemorate the Mahakavi Devkota and encourage writers and young students in
