Kathmandu, Nov
13: Indian religious leader Swami Agnibesh has urged the concerned authorities
to stop animal sacrifice at Gadhimai fair in Bara district.
The fair,
which takes place at Gadhimai temple every five years, is known as the fair of
sacrificing the highest number of animals at a time in the world.
At a news
conference organised in the capital city on Thursday, Swami Agnibesh said the
practice of sacrificing animal was against Vedic Sanatan religion and the Vedic
religion has nowhere mentioned sacrificing animals in the name religion.
He said the
act of sacrificing animals has defamed the Hindu religion and Nepal and added
that such tradition was only the superstition in the name of religion.
Demanding the
end of animal sacrifice, the Indian religious leader on Thursday called on
former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and is scheduled to meet other
former prime ministers in this regard. RSS
