Kathmandu, Nov 8: Nepal and India have agreed to
form a taskforce for the installation of a pipeline to transport petroleum
products to Nepal from India.
A meeting of officials of the two countries here
Saturday constituted a five-member taskforce to initiate a process for the
installation of petroleum products pipeline between Nepal and India.
As per the agreement, Nepal Oil Corporation's
executive director Dr Chandika Bhatta, two technicians from Nepal and Indian
Department of Distribution and Supply executive director SS Bosh and Pipeline
Supply Department executive director VS Ganguli are in the taskforce.
The task force has been given seven-day deadline
to come up with the operation procedures.
Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and
Supplies Jeebraj Koirala led the Nepali delegation in the meeting while
Additional Secretary of Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Rajiv
Kumar led the Indian team.
The pipeline will be installed on a 41 kilometer
stretch from Raxual of India to Amlekhgunj in Nepalgunj. RSS
