Jajarkot, Dec 27: The Jajarkot
Festival organised by the Jjarkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the
objective of promoting trade and tourism in the district, has kicked off.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure
and Transport Bimalendra Nidhi inaugurated the festival amidst a grand opening
ceremony on Friday.
Addressing the function, Minister
Nidhi said that the festival would help open up opportunities for the district
in terms of development and economic prosperity.
He said the country was at present in
need of two infrastructures – one to prepare the political environment by
framing a constitution and to expedite the development works. The minister said
that the government was working towards meeting these two goals.
National Planning Commission
Vice-chairman Dr Govinda Raj Pokharel stressed that the development should be
carried out as per the local needs guided by the objective of addressing the
local problems and nit 'given' down from the centre. He said the commission was
thinking of using a separate formula for the development of remote areas of the
country.
CA members Shakti Bahadur Basnet,
Rajib Bikram Shah and Rita Rawal also expressed their views vowing to work for
the development of the district and the entire region.
The festival will run till January 1
and features various agricultural produce from the district, herbal products,
art and culture, among others, said Buddhi Bahadur Khatri, the General
Secretary of the District Chamber of Commerce.
