Myagdi, Dec 14: Locals of the Annapurna
Area Conservation Project affected areas have exerted pressure to hand over the
management responsibility of the ACAP to the locals.
The term given to the National Trust for
Nature Conservation is going to end next month.
Locals are eager to take over the
responsibility of its management, said a local Tej Gurung. The reservation area
covers 57 VDCs of Myagdi, Manang, Kaski and Lamjung districts.
Prior
to this, locals submitted a memorandum to the lawmakers representing from these
districts.
About 10,000 tourists visit the area
annually bringing in revenue worth Rs 200 million. RSS
