Kathmandu, Dec 27: Prime Minister Sushil
Koirala has made a commitment that the problems of temporary teachers would be
resolved within 15 days.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by the
Temporary Teachers' Struggle Committee today, Prime Minister Koirala assured
the Committee of resolving the problems of temporary teachers through eighth
amendment of the Education Act after consulting the concerned ministers and
office-bearers of Teachers' Service Commission (TSC).
The PM urged the temporary teachers not
to launch agitation. According to the PM, a taskforce comprising
representatives of concerned ministries and Commission would be formed to
resolve the problems.
Chairman of the Committee, Ram Chandra
Adhikari, said that the Committee submitted the memo to the Prime Minister, demanding
immediate implementation of previous agreements.
At a time the TSC is preparing to
announce vacancies for additional teachers, the Committee had stressed not to
announce the vacancy unless new Act commenced.
As per the proposed Act, the TSC is
urged to recruit teachers- 50 per cent from open competition while 50 per cent
through internal competition.
The three-point memorandum comprises to
make the temporary teachers permanent through internal competition, provide
medicine and treatment and provident fund as to the temporary teachers and
others.
