The age factor ad infinitum

Never ask a woman her age __ so goes the clichéd line. Even more so when it comes to the secretive ladies from the world of glamor and showbiz. We bet they're never going to reveal their actual age. Maybe they believe in the “Sweet 18 till I stiffen” thing?

But you can always go for a shot in the dark if you want to hit the bull's eye. That's what seems to have happened in the case of Nepali actress Usha Poudel.

It so happened that the selfsame sister publication Saptahik weekly has had published the estimated age of several young and ageing unmarried Nepali actresses in its latest issue. And one of our sources reveals that Usha couldn't restrain herself when her estimated age in the published list was shown as 25 years.

So she took up her phone, dialed our source and told him that they had made her two years older than she actually is.

Now, does that translate to Usha being 23 years old at present? Or was it a pre-calculated statement which still leaves us with a bit of the liberty of addition before finally getting on to the correct number?

Is Sajja tying the knot?
In the annual game of Cupid or Eros, actress Sajja Mainali has beaten the likes of Mithila Sharma, Jal Shah, Niruta Singh, Bipana Thapa and Manisha Koirala! They all have, again, missed this Mangsir month of merry marriage season this year too! But not so our Sajja Baby!

Now if that still leaves you wondering what's so remarkable about this young actress having achieved of late, let's tell you that it has nothing to do with her reel life. Instead, if a report in a Nepali daily newspaper is to be believed at all, Sajja will be making those seven rounds around the holy fire this December 6.

Still puzzled? She's getting married, stupid!

According to the same daily, Sajja, the youngest daughter of veteran comedian Gopal Raj Mainali, is getting wedded to Om Raj Bhattarai, who hails from Chandragadhi of Jhapa district and who's also the youngest son of his family. Their engagement has been fixed for December 3 and the wedding is said to take place in Kathmandu itself.

Om Raj had done reporting for Nepal Television's “Haamro Kathmandu” program and had been living in the USA after winning the DV lottery. He is currently in the capital.

It's said that Sajja hasn't had done any films for the past six months and had also rejected half a dozen new offers. Why? Was she in a hurry to say “I do!” to her Om Raja? Well, we can't say for sure, but we hope they make a good kanchha kaanchhiko jodi and live happily ever after, what!!
