Kathmandu, Nov 9: The Commission for
Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has on Sunday filed a case of
corruption against acting director of Nepal Airlines Corporation Achyut Raj
Pahadi.
In the case filed at the Special Court, Mr
Pahadi has been charged of embezzling Rs. 2 million while purchasing tyres for
the state-owned Airlines Corporation.
According to a statement released by the
Commission, investigation revealed that Pahadi had not followed the due
procedures while purchasing the tyres and also paid more than the actual cost,
thereby causing losses to the Corporation.
For a tyre that actually cost 780 US
dollars, Pahadi was found to have paid 1,475 dollars and 1010 dollars for the
nose tyre that cost 575 dollars in the market. They were also transported in
other airlines instead of NAC's own flight.
The tyres used in the Boeing 757 aircraft
of NAC were purchased on August 27, 2008. RSS
