Kathmandu, Nov 19: Last rites of Nepali Congress (NC) Banke district
President Dr Arun Koirala, who passed away while undergoing treatment at
Medanta Hospital of New Delhi on Tuesday, have been performed at Pashupati
Aryaghat today. He was 73.
Afflicted from pneumonia, Dr Koirala was rushed to India for further
treatment one-and-a-half month ago after his treatment was not possible in
Nepal.
The dead body of Dr Koirala was kept at Nepali Congress central office,
Sanepa, for final tribute today.
Koirala's son Sudhamshu Koirala consigned funeral pyre to the dead body
of Koirala. Late Koirala is NC President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala's
younger brother.
Among the leaders present on the tribute-paying ceremony and final rites
were NC President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, general secretary duo Prakash
Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula, NC central leaders, Rastriya Prajatantra
party Chairperson Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana and CPN-ML general secretary CP
Mainali
Dr Koirala, who joined politics in 2027 BS through NC's youth wing, was
elected NC Banke District President after party's 12th general convention.
Dr Koirala is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter. RSS
