Kathmandu, Nov 11: Denmark is expanding a new project
to support the development of art and culture sector of Nepal.
The objective of the project is to reach out to some
of the most disadvantaged groups in Nepal and secure their access to culture,
thereby fostering increased critical thinking, transformational and
democracy-enhancing potential of art and culture in the Nepali development
context, according to the Embassy of Denmark.
The culture and development programme targets youth
and children, and socially and geographically marginalized groups. It is going
to be implemented through six different partner organizations in Nepal.
The two-year Denmark-Nepal Culture and Development
Programme was developed by the Danish Centre for Culture & Development or
CKU, in close cooperation
with the Danish Embassy in Kathmandu and other key stakeholders, donors and
local culture institutions in Nepal.
The CKU is a self-governing institution under the Embassy of Denmark that manages culture and development programmes. RSS
