Kathmandu, Nov 11: Educationists and
stakeholders have suggested increasing adequate investment in the education
sector after federalism is adopted in the country.
They stressed on the need of
adequate investment, effectiveness and transparency in the education sector to achieve
the national goal of Education for All and lead the country towards the
development.
They were speaking at a workshop
organized jointly by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) Kathmandu Office, and the Secretariat of National
Commission of Nepal, UNESCO in the capital on Tuesday.
During the programme, educationist
Dr Shivaraj Lohani and Ram Balak Singh presented paper on 'Investment in
Education in Federalism' and stressed on the need of making equitable investment
in the education.
Presenting paper on 'Teacher Management and
Development in the Federalism' Dr Arabinna Lal Bhumi said Teachers Service
Commission (TSC), Federal Education Commission, local bodies and the schools
themselves could forward process for recruiting the teachers.
Teachers' leaders protested Bhumi's
view for the recruitment of teachers and suggested for Constitutional TSC role
in the recruitment.
Spokesperson at the Ministry of
Education Dr Hari Lamsal said the government has not prepared any plan
regarding the education after federalism and that recommendations of
educationists and the organizations concerned would be recognized. RSS
