pm directs to fulfill demands of hailstorm victims

            Kathmandu, Nov 7: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Friday directed Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat to compensate the farmers affected by hailstorm in Mugu recently.

            Prime Minister Koirala issued the directive in response to the request made for the same by a delegation led by NC local leader Khadga Bahadur Shahi. The delegation today handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister at his Baluwatar residence.

            Farmers in various VDCs of the district reportedly suffered damages worth Rs. 135 million after near-to-harvest crops of paddy, millet, maize, soyabean etc were destroyed by the hailstorm along with rain in Mugu on October 25.

            Other demands of the delegation included reinstatement of the Srikot food depot, transportation via air, subsidy in food purchase and transportation and declaring the affected area as damaged zone. RSS
