Janakpur,
Nov 24: The cultural Ramjanaki wedding procession that started from India's
Ayodhaya reached Janakpur on Monday.
The
wedding procession was greeted with a reception at Pipara in Mahottari.
Responding to the call of Hindu sages and saints, the locals of various
villages welcomed the arrival of the procession with garland.
The
wedding procession from Ayodhaya to Janakpur is held every five years.
Coordinator of the procession and World Hindu Council Central Minister Rajendra
Singh Pankaj said relations between Nepal and India had existed since time
immemorial, and the wedding procession had reminded the people of the Tretayug,
one of the era of human civilization according to Hindu religion.

Festival starts
Meanwhile,
with the arrival of the procession a seven-day Biwaha Panchami festival has
commenced in the district.
The
Janaki Temple and Ram Temple has undergone a window-dressing and colourful
decorations for the festival, which is the largest in Janakpur.
The
festival will conclude on 28 November. The town itself is under a grip of
festival with many artificial gates being constructed, and various local
organizations resorting to a clean-up campaign.
The
wedding ceremony comprises at least 1,200 sages under the leadership of
Mahantha Suresh Das of Digambar Akhada. RSS
