Kathmandu, Nov 13: An advanced
investigative journalism training using Right to Information as a tool has
kicked off at Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk on Tuesday.
Freedom Forum – a civil society
organization working on professional development of media and right to
information – organized the three-day training from November 12-14 so as to
sharpen journalists' investigative skills to explore serious issues of governance
and development of the country.
The training has offered reporters
with a blend of knowledge and skills to use right to information as a tool to
do investigative reporting on different unexplored issues of governance, said
Freedom Forum Chairperson and trainer Taranath Dahal.
Likewise, another trainer and
Director of Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) Hasta Gurung said
journalists are being trained to apply a systematic approach to develop
in-depth stories that could influence policy-makers and decision-takers to act
for public goods.
Some 20
mid-career reporters working for different media of Kathmandu, Lalitpur,
Nuwakot, Dhading, Kavre and Sindhupalchowk are taking part in the training. RSS
