Kathmandu, Nov 15: The Thapathali Janakalyan Pariwar has honoured
seven senior citizens on the occasion of the 24th International
Senior Citizen's Day today.
The honoured citizens are Bhim Bahadur Adhikari, Ratna Devi Ghimire,
Kahili Shrestha, Shanti Baidya, Saraswati Nepal, Dil Maya Shrestha and Asha Lal
Shrestha. All are octogenarians.
Founder Chairman of the Janakalyan Pariwar, Ram Prasad Sharma, offered
shawls, commendation letters and Rs 1500 to each elderly person amidst a
programme in the capital city.
At the programme, Chairman Sharma said the State should respect senior
citizens considering their contribution to the society.
Advisor to the Janakalyan Pariwar, Shankar Bahadur Malla, said the
government needs to increase allowance to the senior people.
Similarly, Chairman Dwarikaman Singh Pradhan said the senior citizens
deserve respect and honour as they have contributed much to the society during
