Kathmandu, Nov
14: Newly appointed Representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Nepal,
Phillipa Jill Bradford, presented her credentials before Minister for Foreign
Affairs, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, on Friday.
Presenting the
credentials, Ms Bradford briefed the Minister Pandey about the WFP’s major
activities carried out so far and shared with him her vision for the future.
Similarly,
Minister Pandey recalled the WFP’s close and cooperative engagement with the
Government of Nepal while commending its work as a humanitarian agency. Its
role in reducing hunger and malnutrition and building governments’ capacity to
ensure long term solution to the food challenge is critical, he said.
According to
the Foreign Ministry, Ms Bradford will have the overall responsibility for the
WFP’s operational activities in Nepal. She will function as a part of the
United Nations system in the country. RSS
