Kathmandu, Dec 11: The Nepali
Congress Central Working Committee meeting has begun at the Prime Minister's
residence at Baluwatar.
The NC CWC has started discussions on
distribution of the party's active membership, membership renew, review of the
action taken by the disciplinary committee, party's role in the government, the
government's performance and how to make the party organization strong and
efficient in the coming days, among other issues.
Presently the central committee members
are putting their views on these issues in the meeting.
At the outset of the meeting, the CWC
expressed profound sorrow on the untimely demise of the party's leader from
Baglung and CA member, Hari Bahadur Khadka. A minute of silence was observed
praying for the eternal peace to the departed soul. Khadka died on Sunday in the capital. He was
receiving treatment at the Neuro Hospital after he was critically injured in a
jeep accident in Baglung last Wednesday.
NC central committee member and
Irrigation Minister, NP Saud told media persons that the meeting also discussed
the topic of issuing a democratic constitution on January 22 by forging consensus
among the parties.
He said the party's central committee
members in the meeting gave suggestions to the party leadership on how the
other parties could be roped in on the policy and the stance the party has
taken regarding constitution writing.
It is said that party vice-president Ram
Chandra Poudel, general-secretary duo Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Sitaula,
among other officice-bearers, would be briefing the meeting on the efforts
being made towards constitution writing.
The NC CWC meeting began after a long
gap. The distribution of the party's active membership is concluding on
